Russian air strikes hit 55 ISIL takfiri terrorist group’s targets in Syria in the past 24 hours, the defense ministry said Saturday, as Moscow has ramped up its military campaign in the war-torn country.
"In 64 sorties in the past 24 hours, the Russian air force hit 55 ISIL targets in Syria," the defence ministry said in a statement, adding that it had destroyed 29 training camps for "terrorists".
Several militias, including senior commanders, were killed and wounded during the Russian warplanes' operation in Idlib province.
The Syrian army troops, backed by Russian fighter jets, have made major advances in their fight against the Takfiri terrorists across the Arab country in recent days.
Moscow announced Saturday that its warplanes bombed 29 field camps and other facilities of the ISIL terrorist group in Syria in the past 24 hours.
The Russian Defence Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said his country's Air Force conducted 64 sorties and hit a total of 55 targets.
The Russian defense ministry also on Friday declared that the country's air forces carried out 67 sorties against 60 positions of the ISIL terrorist group in Northern Syria in the past 24 hours, killing two senior commanders and more than 300 militants.
The statement said that the Russian warplanes' operations against the ISIL positions in the Northern parts of Syrian has also left tens of the militants wounded.
Syria's Ambassador to Russia Riad Haddad has said that around 40 percent of ISIS infrastructure in Syria has been destroyed since Russia began its military operation in the country.
Russia started its massive airstrikes against the ISIL and other militant groups' positions in Syria approximately 10 day ago.
Russia's upper house of parliament approved the use of Russia's Air Force in Syria, following a request by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Russia has launched a series of airstrikes across the Arab country Syria since last Wednesday. Moscow says its strikes have destroyed command centers and arms depots belonging to ISIL terrorist group.
On Wednesday, Russian Navy warships fired dozens of missiles at the positions of the ISIL terrorist group in Syria.
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced that the missile attacks came from Russia’s fleet in the Caspian Sea, which borders Russia, Iran and three other littoral countries. The precision weapons reportedly hit all intended targets. Moscow also has a plan to supply its fleets in the Caspian and Black Seas with 10 more advanced weapons and military equipment.
Military source have confirmed that thousands of ISIL Takfiri terrorists have fled Syria to Jordan, Turkey and Europe as the Syrian army continues march on militant-held regions as well as Russia's airstrikes against positions of militias across the Arab country; AFP reported.
