Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Feisal al-Miqdad on Sunday asked Saudi Arabia to join international campaign against Takfiri terrorist groups.

Speaking to IRNA, he called for halt of financial support to terrorist groups, adding that if Saudis stop financial support for terrorists, their activities will greatly decrease.

Saudi regime should follow UN Security resolutions and joint international campaign against terrorist groups, the official added.

Al-Miqdad said that if Syrian neighbors do not stop their support for terrorists, they would be responsible for spread of terrorism to other parts of the world.

Several countries plan to re-open embassies in Damascus, he noted.

Syrian deputy foreign minister noted that several European and non-European states have increased their contacts with the Syrian government to re-open their embassies in Damascus.

The official said it is expected that some countries open their embassies in Syria in the near future.

He did not refer to the names of countries which want to re-open their embassies.

Al-Miqdad said that certain countries like US and Saudi Arabia impose pressure on countries which want to re-open their embassies.

Syria has accepted Tunisia request for sending consular general to Damascus, he noted.

The official said that most of the countries have not cut diplomatic ties with Syrian government and they have only closed their embassies under the pretext of security reasons and they will return back to Syria after peace is restored to the region; IRNA reported.
