Addressing the opening of the 2nd International Congress to honor 17,000 victims of terrorism in Iran here on Monday, the President said terrorism has now transformed into a main organized issue from a sideline topic it used to be.
Noting that terrorist activities have adversely affected the lives of human beings long in the history, he said the phenomenon is assuming a new shape in the modern world of politics.
He further stated that at certain cases terrorism even overgrows an organization and takes the shape of a government which sees its survival through terrorism.
The prime example of this, the Iranian President stressed, is the fabricated Zionist regime which has occupied the land of Palestine.
Saying that the regime and its whole structure was basically founded on intimidation, terror and occupation, the President added that it still treads in the same old path today.
According to President Rouhani, another form of terrorism is the one which uses faith and ideology as a tool to intrigue fanatic and ignorant people into committing terrorism and violence in the name of religion.
He referred to Daesh, the Taliban, Boko Haram and a number of other terrorist groups operating in the region as examples of such groups active in today world.
President Rouhani stressed these terrorist groups are scared to death of balloting boxes as they regard them as an end to them, IRNA reports.
