Referring to the reopening of the UK embassy in Tehran on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Iran did not close down the UK embassy in Tehran.

Talking in a gathering in Allameh Tabatabii University here on Sunday, he said Iran did not close down the British embassy in Tehran and it was the UK itself who decided to do so.

Referring to the reopening of the UK embassy in Tehran on Sunday, he said Iran intended to normalize ties with the whole world except for a few exceptions.

He said now the whole world was recognizing the constructive role Iran played both in region and the globe, stressing that the reopening of the UK embassy in Tehran and the presence of Europeans here proved the fact.

Noting that Iran had differences with certain countries, he said even these could be settled in a precise and frank manner using realistic attitudes.

Zarif said it was a reality that Iran was present in the world as a main and rational player.
