Zionist forces in the southern occupied city of Ashkelon made a number of arrests as supporters and opponents of a Palestinian hunger striker took to the streets.
Arab peoples were chanting in support of Mohammed Allan who slipped into unconsciousness in Barzilai hospital in Ashkelon on 14 August after a 60-day fast to protest his detention without charge.
The 30-year-old was arrested in November 2014 and detained for two six-month periods under a measure called administrative detention that allows Israeli authorities to hold detainees for months without charges.
Israel claimed that the practice is a necessary tool to stop "militant" activity. Authorities said Allan was being held for his activities in "Islamic Jihad", a Resistance group which has carried out numerous attacks against Zionist enemy.
Palestinian prisoners have held rounds of hunger strikes in recent years, sparking tension in the streets.
