Hossein Amirabdollahian, Deputy of Iranian Foreign Minister for Arab and African affairs, in an exclusive interview with "Min-Tehran" ("From Tehran") program said that Islamic Republic of Iran's main foreign policy is to intract with its neighbors. Amirabdollahian reiterated that after passing beyond the interim nuclear program, the main priority would be more attention to our neighboring countries in the region. In this regard the eleventh administration has suggested some initiatives and measures from past until now. These measures exclusively consist of all-round relations between Iran and the region from the environmental issues to the highest level of political and security. He said that now an excellent opportunity has been provided for all the countries in the region for overcoming the crises in the region.

According to Amirabdollahian, Iran has exclusively negotiated with the P5+1 on the nuclear issue. Iran’s Foreign Ministry has no guideline for negotiation with the P5+1 on the regional issues; Iran believes that the regional issues must be dealt with by the regional countries not other countries.

Invasion of Saudi Arabia to Yemen was a strategic mistake

“We believe that Saudi Arabia’s resorting to force for solving the regional problems, especially in Yemen, was a strategic mistake. Although such approach by Saudi Arabia is not acceptable, we believe that Tehran and Riyadh relationship should be natural and acceptable,” Amirabdollahian said.

I responded Adel Al-Jobair clearly

“In negotiating with Adel-Al-Jobair we reiterated that we have to overcome the misunderstandings and the status quo of the region. Tehran-Riyadh cooperation to solve the problems of the region by political solutions is essential and Iran and Saudi Arabia have to begin clear and constructive negotiations. All of us have to play a constructive role to fight extremism and terrorism to have a stable and secure region,” Amirabdollahian said.

Practical behavior of Saudi Arabia is the criteria for us

“The important point is that Saudi Arabi should act with discretion, keep distance from war, stop killing civilians in the region, especially women and children in Yemen, and stop human blockade in Yemen,” Amirabdollahian suggested.

If Bahrein has got documents, present them

“Bahrein has to provide documents for its anti-Iran allegations. Just showing a few guns is not enough,” Amirabdollahian said.

Valid Moallem and Bogdanov in Tehran

About the latest developments in the region as well as Russian and Syrian Foreign Minister’s trip to Iran, Amirabdollahian said that "fortunately a strategic change about Syria has occurred in the view of regional players. If in the past four years, in the eyes of many foreign players, war was the only solution for the issue of Syria; now the major part of players consider finding political solutions as the most suitable way for solving Syria crisis."

Nuclear agreement is a model for resolving regional problems

“In fact diplomacy and negotiation have the power of solving the most complicated political files. The nuclear conclusion has sent this message to the international regime that it is possible to take distance from the rout of war and reach political solution through diplomatic negotiation,” Amirabdollahian announced.

Iran’s initiative is to resolve the crisis in Syria as the most serious plan in the United Nations agenda

“Iran’s four-point political plan that has been presented by Mr Zarif is one of the most practical and most serious plans that has been rendered to the United Nations and other international actors. This plan is also based on the current realities and has been updated by Islamic republic of Iran which will be discussed by Valid Moallem who is coming to Iran. The plan will be discussed by Bogdanov in more details and we believe that what has been mentioned as the Russian political plan is in fact the mutual point that is in Tehran-Moscow plan. We clearly announce that Islamic Republic strongly support its allies and in the rout of democratic solutions will follow seriously regional crises like Syrian crisis in both political program and in the framework of regional consultations,” Amirabdollahian added.
