"Today supporters of terrorists have been isolated and they have been forced to cooperate with the Syrian government and nation and they have realized that they cannot ensure their security and influence through cash aids or selling warfare toys in the region," Zarif said in a meeting with Syrian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jahad al-Laham in Tehran on Tuesday.
The Iranian foreign minister underlined Iran's firm stance on supporting the Syrian government and nation in their fight against terrorism and extremism, and said, "I felicitate you, (Jahad al-Laham) as representative of the people of Syria and Mr. Bashar Assad, for your historical resistance against the terrorists."
Zarif said that trilateral coordination among Iran, Iraq and Syria, especially in fighting terrorism and the ISIS benefits the region, and added, "We believe that the regional problems should be resolved by the regional countries."
The Syrian parliament speaker, for his part, appreciated Iran's support for Syria, and said, "We are facing an oppressive war in Syria and the standing of Syria's friends, especially Iran, has enabled us to resist terrorism and extremism."
