Iran's Foreign Ministry deputies Abbass Araqchi and Majid Takht-Ravanchi, US Under-Secretary of State, Wendy Sherman and Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz, European Union Deputy Foreign Policy Chief Helga Schmid were also present in the talks.
Prior to the ministerial talks, Araqchi and Takht-Ravanchi met senior US and EU negotiators in Vienna discussing simultaneous lifting of sanctions and actions to be taken by Iran.
In the upcoming round of expert-level talks in Vienna, negotiators will meet to work on the appendixes to the final agreement.
Recent developments in nuclear negotiations signal that the talks for drafting the final nuclear deal is entering a new phase. The two sides have set July 30 as the deadline for a final deal.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif plans to hold bilateral talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Moscow on June 4, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Saturday, IRNA reports.
"In the upcoming round of expert-level talks in Vienna, neogitators will meet to work on the appendixes to the final agreement."
'Yes, it will be a bilateral meeting,' Araqchi told RIA Novosti when asked about Foreign Minister Zarif’s plans during his visit to the Russian capital.
Next Thursday, Moscow will host a security conference for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), to which Iran is an observer state.
The SCO comprises Russia, China and Kazakhstan as well as other Central Asian republics of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Russia is one of the nuclear powers in the P5+1 group that, last month, negotiated a framework agreement with Iran on curbing the Islamic republic’s nuclear energy program.
The P5+1 group also includes China, France, the United Kingdom, the United States and Germany.
Negotiators are working toward the end-of-June deadline to reach a comprehensive agreement that would also usher in the removal of energy-related sanctions from Iran.
