Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Saeed said on Thursday that he would visit Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Russia and Azerbaijan Republic for consultations to acknowledge the Indonesian decision to rejoin OPEC after six years.

Saeed told a press conference in Jakarta that his country is considering to rejoin Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries as an observer member.

Indonesia was already among the oil exporting countries, but now it turned to be an importer of oil and is trying to increase its oil production from the current level of 830,000 bpd.

Saeed said that by turning to an observer member status, Indonesia will be in interaction with the oil exporting countries.

Indonesian Solo Plus News said that the Energy Minister will travel to oil exporting countries like Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Russia and Azerbaijan Republic to consult with them for being more active in OPEC.

It said that he will attend OPEC meeting in June.
