The Iraqi MP, Hussein al-Maliki, stated “The Iraqi Intelligence Dept. within the MoD assured that Al-Baghdadi is seriously injured in his head due to an airstrike that targeted his convoy in Mosul.”
“The US states that it targeted Baghdadi’s convoy and injured him, but in fact the Iraqi Security Forces attacked his convoy and injured him because he used to moving by two convoys to mislead the security forces and the US targeted the false one,” he concluded.
On Sunday, the Iraqi Interior Ministry confirmed that the leader of the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was injured, and a number of ISIS members were killed in air strikes.
Iraqi Defense Minister Khaled al-Abadi confirmed Sunday night on his Facebook account that Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was injured by a US airstrike near Mosul late Friday night. The post also said Baghdadi's deputy was killed in the attack.
Meanwhile the spokeswoman for the US Department of Defense (Pentagon), Elissa Smith said that international coalition forces targeted an ISIS meeting last Friday near Mosul, but could not confirm the injury of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the organization.
Smith continued, “We, however, cannot confirm whether the ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was among them during the raids.”
Also twitter account claimed to belong to ISIL spokesman Abu Mohammed al-Adnani confirmed Sunday that al-Baghdadi was hurt in US-led strike, but said he was not killed.
"Perhaps you suspected that the Caliphate ended with martyrdom of the Caliph. I assure the [Islamic] nation that the Emir Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is well, thank god, and I wish him a speedy recovery."
Today The iraqi Ministry of Defense announced killing dozens of the ISIL terrorists in Mosul.
Also on Monday, the Iraqi Interior Ministry announced the names of ISIS casualties from an air strike executed by the Iraqi Air Force (IAF) in western Anbar.
The ministry said in a statement “The leader of the ISIS group, Abu Bakr al-Baghdad was transported to Syria after he was injured in an air strike that resulted in 40 casualties among ISIS militants. The air strike targeted a meeting held between the ISIS leader and his key aides in an area near al-Kanadi school in al-Sa’ada district.”
“The leader of the group, known as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been injured while his key aide, Abu Huzayefa al-Adnani, was reportedly killed. Senior leaders and experts in explosive devices were also killed in the attack including Omar al-Absi and Ahmed Salem al-Salmani, known as Abu Omar, the leader of Ashbal al-Jannah within the ISIS group.”
A statement by the MoD cited “The Intelligence and Security Department and in coordination with the US-led Coalition attacked the ISIL terrorists of western Mosul to kill dozens of them and destroy eight of their vehicles.
On Monday, the head of Kirkuk police, Gen. Sarhad Qader said that the security forces arrested the governor of al- Hawija district, accusing him of alliance with ISIS.
Gen. Qader stated for IraqiNews, “This evening, Iraqi security forces conducted a special operation that resulted in the arrest of elements involved in 14 suicide bombings, including the governor of al-Huwija district. The operation was based on intelligence received by the police that the governor and a number of officials in the district council are allies to ISIS.”
He added, “The plan was set to arrest them at the time of their meeting while getting paid by their leader. The security forces seized cars, explosive devices and fake IDs in the raid.”
