The operation was launched in Saadiya region (located 60 kilometers of Baquba) by the Iraqi who enjoyed support from local tribesmen, a military source told Al-Alam.
At least 20 ISIL militant were killed in the operation, he added.
The officer speaking on condition of anonymity underscored that ten slain members of the terrorist group were Saudi nationals.
On June 10, the ISIL militants took control of Mosul. Hundreds of civilians were killed and thousands of people have been forced out of their homes since that time.
According to earlier reports, scores of Saudi nationals are members of the ISIL. The Saudi royal family is reportedly one of the biggest funders of the Takfiri terrorist group.
