Iraqi army’s Quick Response Units targeted a terrorist hideout by artillery in the north of Fallujah, killing nine ISIL terrorists, a military source in the Anbar operations command said.
The officer speaking on condition of anonymity added, army’s Quick Response Units also targeted two buildings in which some ISIL terrorists were hiding and destroyed their two vehicles with mounted machine guns.
On June 10, the ISIL terrorists took control of Mosul, the capital of Nineveh Province, which was followed by the fall of Tikrit, located 140 kilometers (87 miles) northwest of the capital, Baghdad.
The terrorist group has also pushed their way towards Baghdad and the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, where it has been stopped by Iraqi forces and Kurdish fighters.
