Cries of celebration and fireworks were heard around Gaza shortly after Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has confirmed the report.

Hamas Spokesperson Mushir al-Masri, who joined the celebrations said "We praise the Palestinian resistance, and we support (Hamas's armed wing) al-Qassam brigades who captured this soldier and this is great news as the Zionist offensive is going on in Gaza. This is great news to our prisoners that they will become free soon."

"This is an honour to the Palestinian nation and victory to the Palestinian nation. We are proud of the men of the resistance as well as all of the Palestinians," added a Gaza resident named Mohamed Saad.

Fireworks were also fired in al-Khalil (Hebron) where hundreds took to the streets.
