The Israeli Prime Minister has insisted that a ceasefire in the relentless Israeli bombardment of the impoverished Gaza Strip is "not even on the agenda."

"I am not talking to anybody about a ceasefire right now," Netanyahu said during a meeting with the Knesset’s foreign affairs and “defense” committee on Thursday as cited in Israeli press reports.

The development comes as the occupying regime has been violently pounding mostly residential areas in the besieged Palestinian enclave for the past three days.

Since the beginning of the deadly military campaign, at least 80 Palestinians have been killed and many more injured.

In response to the massive Israeli onslaught against Palestinian civilians, Gaza-based resistance movements have launched hundreds of rockets towards Israeli cities and settlements, insisting that any Israeli target is a legitimate one.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary General has expressed concerns over Israeli aggression saying, "Gaza is on a knife edge. The deteriorating situation is leading to a downward spiral which could quickly get beyond anyone's control."

"The risk of violence expanding further still is real. Gaza, and the region as a whole, cannot afford another full-blown war," he added.

Ban also spoke with Netanyahu, urging him to exercise maximum restraint, while describing the Gaza rocket attacks, the only means of Palestinian retaliation, as "unacceptable and must stop."

Tens of Palestinian homes have been completely destroyed, while over 1,500 others have been partially damaged.

President of the Palestinian National Unity Government Mahmoud Abbas has accused Israel of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip in order to protect its illegal settlement project.

Gaza has been under Israeli illegal siege since 2007. The blockade has caused a decline in the standards of living, unprecedented levels of unemployment, and unrelenting poverty.
