Al-Alam news network reported Friday that in an army operation in East Ghouta, Syrian troops ambushed and killed Abdul Aziz A’armoush, also known as Abul-Fawz Ansari and butcher of Ghouta.
Citing al-Hadath news site, the report further refers to Ansari as the commander of the terrorist operations of al-Qaeda-linked groups in Syria known as “Jaish al-Islam” and the al-Nusra Front.
He then became known as the butcher of Ghouta after he committed numerous atrocities against the civilian population of the Syrian town towards the end of 2013.
In a related development, the opposition-linked group known as the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported one of the leader of a terrorist group in Homs countryside was killed in clashes with Syrian army troops.
According to the British-based group, the killed terrorist leader was a former Syrian army officer who deserted the military force.
Syrian has been gripped by a foreign-sponsored insurgency war since 2011. An estimated 150,000 people have so far been killed in the violence.
