A suicide bomber killed three Turkish engineers and wounded another on Monday in eastern Afghanistan, officials said, the latest attack on foreigners in the wartorn country.
"Around 7:15am, a suicide bomber detonated his explosive-packed motorbike targeting a minibus belong to Turkish engineers in Behsud district of Nangarhar province," said Nangarhar provincial governor spokesman Ahmad Zia Abdulzai on Monday.
"As a result of this attack, three Turkish engineers were killed and the fourth one was wounded," Abdulzai added.
Abdulzai said the victims were working on a construction project in the province, and they were heading to work when their minibus was targeted by the suicide attacker.
Meanwhile, a Turkish official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the death toll and nationality of the victims.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack although Taliban militants commonly engage in such terror acts. The group announced its plans to begin its spring offensives throughout the country.
Nangarhar police chief’s spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal confirmed the attack and said an Afghan child was also among those wounded.
