“Based on the information that we have received, all the Iranian border guards taken hostage are in good health,” Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour said.

The Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the February 6 abduction of the five Iranian border guards in the Jakigour region in Iran’s Sistan-and-Baluchestan Province and their transfer to Pakistani territory.

On March 23, the terror group claimed that it had killed one of the hostages. It also threatened to kill another one of the Iranian border guards.

Despite the threats, Rahimpour said, “no amateurish action has been taken” by the terror group.

No evidence has been obtained yet to prove the hostage takers’ claim of having killed one of the captive Iranian soldiers, the Iranian deputy foreign minister said.

Rahimpour further noted that officials from the Iranian Foreign Ministry have been seriously pursuing the case and holding numerous meetings in order to secure the release of the kidnapped Iranian border guards.

On October 25, 2013, the Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group killed 14 Iranian border guards and wounded six others in the border region near the city of Saravan in Sistan-and-Baluchestan Province.
