US Secretary John Kerry has ended an unannounced, 16-hour visit to Israel, without meeting Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas.

Kerry is now heading to Brussels to attend the NATO foreign ministers meeting on the Ukraine crisis in Brussels, a US embassy official told dpa.

Palestinian officials said he may return to the region to meet with Abbas after the Brussels talks, scheduled to end Wednesday.

Kerry met Israeli regime’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the second time in less than 12 hours on Tuesday in an effort salvage stalled peace talks with the Palestinians.

There was no immediate word of any breakthrough. The negotiations appeared on the brink of collapse at the weekend, when Israel failed to press ahead with a promised release of several dozen Palestinian prisoners.

Through this polocu, the occupying regime is blackmailing the Palestinians, who are not willing to extend initial deadline for an accord expires on April 29.

A freeze on construction in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, land Palestinians want with the Gaza Strip and East al-Quds for a state, was reportedly being discussed at the meeting.
