The Syrian army also thwarted an infiltration attempt on Thursday by armed terrorist groups from Lebanese territories into Talkalakh in Homs, state news agency SANA reported.
The report cites a military source as saying that dozens of insurgents attempted to intrude into Talkalakh through Azer site, pointing out that an army unit in cooperation with border guard personnel confronted the group and killed many of the terrorists.
The source added that the army unit destroyed machineguns and ammunition that the foreign-backed insurgents attempted to transfer into the Syrian territory from Lebanon in a bid to provide support to other militants in al-Zara town, but were dealt a fatal blow by Syrian army troops.
Moreover, another army unit killed a large number of terrorists in the towns of al-Tah and Arnaba between Hama and Idleb countryside, the report said, citing another military source.
The source further noted that a number of the killed insurgents were natives of Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Iraq.
