Clashes erupted on Thursday between Syrian army units and several terrorist groups in the neighborhoods of al-Orfi, al-Jbeileh, al-Rushdiyeh, al-Ommal, al-Hweiqeh and Nazlet al-Rdeisat in Deir Ezzor, state news agency SANA reports.
The report further cites a provincial source in the Deir Ezzor governorate as saying that the clashes led to the killing of “scores of terrorists,” including Tunisian national, and the destruction of a number of military vehicles and weapons.
The report identifies 12 of the killed insurgents by name.
Elsewhere in the country, an army unit confronted another foreign-backed insurgent group that attempted to intrude into al-Bayader section of Maaloula in the outskirts of Damascus, killing all the militants in the group.
Moreover, the report quotes a military source as saying that members of an armed militant group were also eliminated in al-Zara farms in the Homs countryside.
It added that leader of the “terrorist group” Anas al-Bostany, nicknamed Sheikh Majid, was among those killed in the battle.
