According to the statement, Syrian soldiers pushed out militants from their base at Aleppo's international airport, southeast of the city, and were moving towards an industrial complex used as a base for the armed groups.
It said that army forces, along with volunteer militia, were in complete control of the Naqareen, Zarzour, Taaneh and Subeihieh areas along the eastern side of Aleppo.
Aleppo is one of the most volatile regions suffering from the foreign-charged insurgency in Syria.
Many Shia-dominated towns have been occupied by Saudi-led armed groups for more than a year, which has left people struggling for their basic needs.
The occupied towns are being used by the militant groups as human shields which has made army improvements relatively slower in the area.
However recent infighting among militant groups who have been engaging in deadly attacks on each other over conflicting interest has enabled the army to improve toward freeing more areas.
According to reports more than 700 militants have been killed in only ten days of fighting which started two weeks ago.
Syria sank into war in March 2011 when pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of Western and regional states.
The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history.
