The Palestinian Hamas Movement has categorically denied allegations by the military-installed Egyptian government that it had offered military training and logistic support for members of the country’s Muslim Brotherhood in the Gaza Strip.
"The accusations that were made by the Egyptian interior ministry against the Hamas Movement about providing logistic support for the perpetrators of Al-Dakahlia bombing are false and unfounded," Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri announced in a Thursday press release.
The spokesman further reiterated that the Egyptian authorities continue to make claims against Palestine’s Hamas resistance movement in an attempt to transfer their failure to address their nation’s internal issues to the besieged Gaza Strip.
The development comes as at least 19 people were reported killed on Friday in fresh clashes between Egyptian security forces and supporters of its ousted President Mohamed Morsi across the North African country.
The clashes broke out when security forces used tear gas, bird shot and live gunfire to disperse large crowds of angry protesters.
The casualties have been reported from the cities of Cairo, Alexandria, Suez, Ismailia, and Fayoum.
