Akbar Torkan, who is also the secretary of Iran’s Free Trade Zones Coordination Council, on Tuesday described the proposal as“serious."
Torkan noted that Iran is also considering some other proposals to establish free trade zones in five other areas, including in the northeastern city of Sarakhs, southern city of Jask and the western cities of Mehran, Baneh and Marivan.
If the proposals are approved by the Free Trade Zones Coordination Council, they will be referred to the Cabinet for ratification, the Iranian official pointed out.
Iran already has free trade zones in the northwestern cities of Aras and Maku, northen city of Anzali, Arvand in the southwest, Chabahar in the southeast as well as Qeshm and Kish islands in the Persian Gulf.
