Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said trans-regional meddling is the cause of the ongoing sensitive situation in the Middle East.

The Leader made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Omani monarch Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said in Tehran on Monday.

“The main reason for the current situation of the region is … interference from outside the region,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The Leader stressed that the sensitive situation in the region requires more cooperation between Iran and Oman.

“Unfortunately, due to the support of certain regional countries, a Takfiri group has been formed which is at conflict with all other Muslim groups and they (certain regional countries) must know that they will not be immune to the fire they started,” Ayatollah Khamenei stated.

The Leader described the Zionist regime of Israel as a permanent threat to the region which is supported by the US.

“The corrupt Zionist regime which has arsenals [filled with] weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) is very dangerous and is a serious threat to the region,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The Leader said that the only way for the region to have security is through the true prohibition of WMDs.
