An Israeli military spokesman said Sunday they fired at Syria after several shells landed in Israeli occupied Golan Heights.
Israeli army radio reported the Israeli attack demolished a Syrian military position.

"Today, several shells fired from Syria landed in the central Golan heights, adjacent to the Israel-Syria border," the spokesman was quoted by AFP.

"(Israeli) forces carried out a pinpoint strike, targeting the source of the shooting. A hit was confirmed."

The spokesman said at least three shells were confirmed to have hit the Golan occupied parts.

Israel, which is technically at war with Syria, seized 1,200 square kilometers (460 square miles) of the strategic plateau during the 1967 Six-Day War, which it later annexed in a move never recognized by the international community.

The Golan has been tense since the beginning of the conflict in Syria.

The regime has been quick to attack Syria, not only in Golan, during the deadly insurgency that has gripped Syria for more than two years, including three airstrikes that were carried inside Syrian soil since start of the current year.
