During a speech delivered in Beirut on Monday, Head of the council, Sheikh Abdul-Amir Qablan called on the EU members to retreat from the recent decision, saying that, “not only no good comes out of such decision but it is an oppression against people who value resistance as a means for protecting their homeland against aggressive outsiders”.

On Monday the European Union, under pressure from the United States and Israel, put what it calls the military wing of the Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, on its terror blacklist.

We support resistance men who try for reform and righteousness and fight against Zionist terrorists who have occupied our lands in Palestine, Golan Heights and Shaba Farms, Sheikh Qablan said.

HE added, “Terrorism is a colonization method which the Global Arrogance initiated it to make nations bow before its deceits”.

“The person who defends himself and his homeland is free human who stands against arrogance and evil and our brothers in the resistance are moving in the path of righteousness and defend themselves and their families,” Lebanese prominent cleric said.

He further said, “Resistance is not terrorist, Israel is the stem of terrorism in the whole world”.

The move was advocated by the UK and the Netherlands, but other members of the EU had been reluctant, fearing that it would destabilize Lebanon.

Both UK and Netherlands have also been assisting US in its support to the insurgency in Syria which has been led by numerous terrorist groups including al-Qaeda affiliated militants.

Analysts believe the move is actually a retaliation prompted by the Israeli regime and European supporters of the war in Syria in response to Hezbollah support to the Syrian people against terrorist groups that have been poured to the Arab country to bring down the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The decision is likely to complicate EU’s relations with the Lebanese government, of which Hezbollah is an important part.
