The Syrian army forces intensified their military attack on armed groups in Homs’s old neighborhoods, Bab Hood and al-Khalidiya, al-Alam correspondent Mazin Salmo said on Wednesday.
Some sources said tens of armed militants were killed in the attack and a large amount of weapons was confiscated.
The Syrian army forces also took control of 10 residential blocks the armed groups were using as military bases against the Syrian forces, al-Alam correspondent added.
The Syrian army also targeted the militants’ gatherings in Rif Homs, specifically in al-Rastan and Qal’at al-Hassan, Salmo said.
There were also military operations in Deir al-Zour in which an armed group was targeted in al-Sina’a neighborhood and all of its members were killed, he continued.
The Syrian army forces also targeted military bases belonging to armed groups especially al-Nusra Front in al-Bou Hassan town, al-Alam correspondent said.
The Syria crisis began in March 2011, and thousands of people, including large numbers of government forces, have been killed.
Damascus says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.
