Syrian Army has announced its full readiness to target militants’ bastions in the country’s largest city of Aleppo after regaining full control over strategic city of al-Qusayr, al-Alam reports.

The Syrian army has started to dispatch its troops mainly to the northern parts of Aleppo which is located near to the Turkey border and considered as the main bastion of militant groups.

According to military analysts, fierce fighting is expected to be erupted in northwestern city of Aleppo.

Aleppo was overrun by rebels last summer, and remains one of the country's bloodiest battlegrounds as rebels and army forces fight over it.

The Syrian troops have earlier driven out foreign-backed militants from Aleppo as part of their clearing operations in the country.

The advancements came as the Syrian government forces completely flushed out militants from the towns of Aziza and Tall Assan, located near Aleppo.

The army says it also discovered tunnels dug by the militants in Aziza, and secured a strategic bridge that links several towns in the Aleppo countryside.
