At least seven civilians were killed and 10 others wounded in a car bomb explosion that has rocked Syria’s northwestern province of Idlib, Al-Alam reported.

According to report, the bomb blast occurred at noon near a military center in city of Jisr al-Shughour.

The incident happened after the Syrian army forces cleared more regions across the crisis-hit country of foreign-sponsored militants.

Some security forces named ”Syria National Defense” conducted a successful operation around Syrian coastal town of Banias on Friday, clearing the district of insurgents.

The attempted bombing came a day after the Syrian Army successfully concluded the first phase of its operation in the strategic western city of Qusayr.

According to reports from the city, an unknown number of security agents from different foreign countries have been detained or killed during the operation.

Syrian forces have inflicted major losses on the militants in Qusayr, destroying their weaponry and equipment.

The Syrian army has also found several caches of weapons, mostly containing Israeli-made ammunition.

Qusayr, which is located in the central province of Homs, has been the scene of fierce clashes between Syrian forces and militants over the past few days.
