‘Rebels not in control of Syria-Jordan border post’

Al-alam has aired an exclusive footage denying reports that the foreign-backed militants in Syria have taken control of a strategic Syrian border crossing with Jordan.

In the video report, Al-alam reporter Hossein Morteza said that traffic on Nasib border crossing, which is situated on the Damascus-Amman international highway, is normal and government forces are doing the jobs at the borderline routinely.

Morteza stressed that government and volunteer forces have prevented the infiltration of the militants into Syria along the border for several times.

The report came after some reports quoted Jordanian officials as claiming that the rebels on Monday sealed off the border post with Jordan after they took control of it.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of army and security personnel, have been killed in the violence.

The Syrian government has said that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and that a very large number of the militants operating in the country are foreign nationals.

Several international human rights organizations have accused the foreign-sponsored militants of committing war crimes.
