“We warn domestic and foreign enemies and counter-revolutionary groups that any attempts to incite unrest or create sedition before or after the election will receive a vigilant and decisive response from the Iranian nation,” Major General Yahya Rahim-Safavi said on Sunday, concluding that “relevant organizations and bodies must predict and [adopt] preventative [measures] against any domestic or foreign[-sponsored] unrest.”
The commander, who is also a senior military adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, added that the Iranian nation would once again achieve victory in the presidential election.
The Islamic Republic’s 11th presidential election will be held in June and presidential hopefuls will be allowed to register from May 7 to 11.
