A senior Iranian lawmaker says if the West does not respect international nuclear treaties and signatory countries’ rights, Iran will keep all its available options such as leaving Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons Treaty.

In an interview with al-Alam, the Head of Iran Majlis (Parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said all options are on the table for Iran and any further decisions in this regards will be subjected to the Western upcoming moves.

“It is not accepted to push Iran to respect all the clauses of NPT and comply with International Atomic Energy Agency regulations while western countries and the US ignore them all, including non-proliferation of nuclear arms and respecting other countries’ legal nuclear rights,” Boroujerdi said.

He said under regulations of the IAEA and the NPT, the US should see nuclear activities from technical and legal perspectives, but they only have a political view.

“The West urges Iran to stop enrichment at 20% while under the regulations even 30% to 50% enrichments are legal to fulfill energy requirements,” Boroujerdi added.

He said atomic arms were considered as “redline” for the Islamic Republic, adding that “not only Iran is committed to the international regulations but also has a serious religious obligation to reject all kinds of nuclear arms”.

Iran is conducting a nuclear energy program which the nuclear-armed Zionist regime, the US and some of their western allies accuse of having non-civilian purposes; an accusation that has been proven baseless in several rounds of investigations carried out by IAEA inspectors on Iran’s nuclear sites.
