“Now they must work to gain the confidence of the Iranian people," said the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council after Almaty 2 talks in Kazakhstan, adding that the countries involved "must show their willingness and sincerity and show appropriate behaviour in the future."
The second day of talks between Iran and the G5+1 wrapped up in the Kazakh city of Almaty on Saturday, with the two sides set to meet in near future for further negotiations.
Iran entered the talks with a cooperative stance and offered new ways for reaching consensus, presenting the group with a new package of proposals.
"We proposed our plan of action and the other party was not ready and they asked for some time to study the idea," Jalili told a press conference in Almaty.
Jalili further said the onus is now on the western side to show their willingness for trust building and cooperation. A new venue and time for another round of talks is yet to be decided.
Meanwhile, EU foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton described herself as satisfied with the depth and quality of the discussions. Ashton said her grouping would like further talks with Iran because they believed they would produce a result.
Iran is seeking ways to cooperate with the world to clear its stance on a nuclear program which is aimed at fulfilling future energy needs of the country.
The Islamic republic has opened its nuclear facilities to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors for several rounds of investigations and argues that as a committed signatory to the NPT, its activities fit within the international laws and regulations.
