The broadcast of Iran's Arabic-language Al-Alam, the movie channel iFilm English, and Sahar 1 were interrupted for two and a half hours starting at 7:00 GMT on Thursday.
The cause of the interruption was the presence of a clean carrier on the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Broadcasting (IRIB) package.
The satellite provider, Eutelsat, has confirmed the presence of the clean carrier, noting that it is impossible to locate the source of the jamming signals.
The IRIB contends that unless Eutelsat locates the source of the illegal jamming signals, the satellite provider itself will be held responsible for the interruption.
This is not the first time that IRIB signals have been interrupted over the past two years.
On May 19, 2012, the broadcast of Iran's 24-hour English-language news channel, Press TV, was interrupted on the Hotbird satellite provider.
Earlier in March, 2012, the broadcast of IRIB international channels on the Hotbird satellite was interrupted for two hours.
On January 19, 2012, British technicians operating from Bahrain also sent jamming signals to block IRIB channels on the Hotbird satellite, including a number of international channels such as Press TV, Al-Alam, Al-Kowsar, Jam-e Jam and Sahar.
