“The value of the sacrifices of people is higher than extending the hand of friendship by opponents to murderers,” Ibrahim al-Aradi told Al-Alam Arabic news channel on Wednesday.
The comments came as opposition groups called on Bahraini people to hold anti-regime protests across the country on February 14 to mark the second anniversary of their revolution.
Al-Aradi went on to say that the resistance of Bahrainis inside and outside the country lead to failure of the negotiation offer by the regime to opposition.
The coalition of Bahrain’s opposition groups, including al-Wefaq and the February 14 Revolution Youth Coalition, urged Bahrainis to go on strike on Thursday and march to the site of the iconic Pearl Square, the former epicenter of Bahrain's revolution, on Friday.
Bahrainis have been staging demonstrations since mid-February 2011, demanding political reform and a constitutional monarchy, a demand that later changed to an outright call for the ouster of the ruling Al Khalifa family following its crackdown on popular protests.
Bahrainis say they will continue holding anti-regime demonstrations until their demands for the establishment of a democratically-elected government and an end to rights violations are met.
