Dozens of militants with the Takfiri Boko Haram terrorist group have surrendered to Nigerien authorities, less than a week after Nigeria announced that its troops captured the group’s last key bastion in the country’s northeast.
Fifteen people were killed when Boko Haram attacked a remote village in northeast Nigeria, opening fire and burning homes to the ground, three residents told AFP on Tuesday.
Boko Haram on Sunday captured the northeastern town of Monguno, including a military base, after a fierce battle with Nigerian troops, security sources told AFP.
At least 55 worshippers have been shot dead at a mosque in northeast Nigeria, officials in Borno State say.
