Thousands of US troops have left for Jordan to participate in a joint military exercises which will be conducted in the Middle Eastern country from May 25 to June 8.
US ground and air forces held joint exercises with their Jordanian counterparts on Wednesday as the conflict in neighboring Syria showed more progress for army troops.
The CIA has begun shipping arms to insurgents in Syria through Jordan, despite international concerns on escalation of bloodshed in the war-torn country.
A joint military exercise scheduled to take place in Jordan next week is aimed reportedly at readying forces for “a possible intervention in Syria.”
