The dawn assault saw armored vehicles, including Abrams tanks, move on the village of Bazwaya as allied artillery and airstrikes hit Islamic State (ISIS , ISIL, IS and Daesh) group positions, drawing mortar and small arms.

Lieutenant General Abdel Wahab Al Saadi, Iraqi Special Forces commander: "The Anti Terror Forces are advancing toward the eastern side of Mosul. We will achieve that today, God willing."
