Led by Syrian Groubd Forces and Artillery Brigade, the Syrian Armed Forces stormed "Point 2" at Jabal Thardeh; this resulted in a fierce battle with the Islamic State terrorists at the eastern slopes of this mountaintop.

Following an intense battle which started on Tuesday, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to secure their positions just outside of Point 2, leaving a small distance between their front-lines and the ISIS's fortifications.

According to a military source from the the Syrian Republican Guard Airborne force , the Syrian Armed Forces killed 14 Islamic State terrorists on Tuesday, while also destroying 1 technical vehicle that was mounted with a 14.5mm ISIS anti-aircraft machine gun.

The Syrian Armed Forces controlled Jabal Thardeh in early September; however, the US airstrike on syrian Army at 17th September forced them to withdraw from this mountaintop.
