Minutes ago, a military source informed Al-Masdar News that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has lost contact to a Syrian jet operational in the Eastern Qalamoun, a region northeast of Damascus.

The warplane was targeting ISIS-held areas near al-Batraa; it is not immediately clear if ISIS' anti-aircraft crews downed the jet or it was the result of a technical failure.

According to the source, the SAA now believes the Syrian MiG-23 jet is downed although circumstances detailing the pilot's fate remain unclear. Moments ago, Amaq Agency also confirmed the news of the downing.
