"Samih Breidi and Tariq Fleiti, after a brief but heavy fighting, were arrested by the Lebanese army men," the ministry said.
"Both terrorists were wounded in the clash; however, Samih Breidi reportedly succumbed to his wounds," the ministry added.
Also on Tuesday, the Lebanese Army’s carried out a special operation to destroy a base of Fatah al-Sham Front (newly formed al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as al-Nusra Front) near the Syrian border-crossing in Jarod ‘Arsal.
The Lebanese Army’s assault proved successful, as their forces overwhelmed the Fatah al-Sham Front militants their base inside the town of Dahr al-Safa.
According to a Lebanese Army source in Beirut, at least six Fatah al-Sham militants were killed and two armored vehicles were destroyed during the attack.
In addition to their assault on Fatah al-Sham Front’s positions in Jarod ‘Arsal, the Lebanese Army also shelled several sites under the control of the ISIL terrorist group in the Baalbek Highlands; FNA reported.
