The sources said ISIL commander in Deir Ezzur Amer Ghaffal al-Saleh was killed along with 16 other militants in clashes with Syrian regime troops in the vicinity of the Deir Ezzur military airport, ARA News reported.
“Clashes broke out after ISIL fighters launched a mortar attack on the army headquarters in the airport and killed over a dozen Syrian soldiers,” the local sources told ARA News in Deir Ezzur.
“The army troops were then engaged in clashes with ISIL militants and killed at least 17 militants, including its military commander in the province Amer Ghaffal al-Saleh,” the source reported.
Al-Saleh was responsible for the ISIL-led military operations against the Syrian army in Deir Ezzur and its countryside, according to sources close to ISIL who spoke to ARA News on condition of anonymity.
Also, an ISIL local governor known as Abu Azzam was killed in an attack by the Syrian army in al Tharda district of Deir Ezzur province, activists reported; FNA reported.
