Brand new footage released by Amaq News (ISIS affiliated outlet) reveals the exact moment a Russian military helicopter was downed during counter-terrorism operations on the eastern outskirts of Palmyra.
Both Russian pilots were killed during the incident as they lacked sufficient time to escape the aircraft.
However, the bodies were successfully retrieved during a special operation led by the Russian Armed Forces, despite a large presence of ISIS fighters in the region.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, the helicopter’s third missile accidentally struck the aircraft’s tail during launch due to a technical error, causing the helicopter to plunge towards the ground, Abna reported.
