The Egyptian army said on Wednesday that the attacks targeted the terrorists’ positions in the cities of Sheikh Zuweid and Rafah in North Sinai, according to RT Arabic.
The report added that three terrorists were also arrested during the operations.
The army further noted that some 73 shelters, 57 homes and 190 tents which were taken by terrorists as a base to attack the Egyptian troops were destroyed along with ten vehicles and five motorcycles.
The new development came two days after the Egyptian army said it killed 13 militants in northern and central Sinai in a shootout.
The attacks are part of the security operation dubbed "Martyr's Right," against the militants’ positions in northern Sinai which began in September 2015 following coordinated terrorist attacks on several army checkpoints that claimed the lives of 21 soldiers in July 2015.
Over the past several years, Egyptian troops have been engaged in efforts to quell rampant militancy across the Sinai Peninsula.
The battle has led to the deaths of hundreds of troops and militants, including those with the Takfiri Velayat Sinai group.
Previously known as Ansar Bait al-Maqdis, the outfit has pledged allegiance to the Daesh (ISIS / ISIL) terror group, which is mainly active in Iraq and Syria.
In October 2014, a state of emergency was declared across the whole peninsula following a deadly terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 33 soldiers.
