AFP is reporting that the bombing killed six people.The blast took place after Friday prayers, when the bomber detonated his explosive vest.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which took place in Baghdad's al-Radwaniya district. However, Islamic State (IS,ISIS/ISIL and Daesh) militants battling government forces in the north and west have regularly targeted Shia areas of the city, RT reports.
It comes less than one month after an ISIS suicide bombing killed at least 29 people and injured 60 others at a football stadium in Baghdad.
An ISIS suicide truck bomb also killed at least 60 people in early March, after it was detonated in the Hilla, located just south of Baghdad.
According to Alsumaria TV channel, two suicide bombers carried out the attack — one of them was killed when trying to enter the mosque. His accomplice, however, had managed to get inside.
