The apparent US drone strike targeted a car traveling in al Rawda city in Shabwa province, a remote desert area where al Qaeda militants are believed to be operating. The province has been targeted by drone strikes this year, Reuter’s reports.
Meanwhile other reports says that leader of so-called “Islamic State” in Yemen was killed in a drone strike early on Thursday, residents and officials said.
They said the strike targeted a car in which Jalal Baleedi and two of his aides were travelling in on a road between the towns of Zinjibar and Shaqra in southern Yemen, the express Tribune reports.
Dozens of al Qaeda militants reclaimed the town of Azzan in Yemen's Shabwa province on Monday, residents said, exploiting a security vacuum.
