Tehreek Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has laimed responsibility for the attack on Bacha Khan University Charsadda district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province where at least 21-35 people have been killed so far and dozens others injured. Security official say counterattack operation for eliminating assailants ended.
TTP commander, Omar Mansoor, said that the attack was carried out by four attackers, according to Times of India.
Pakistan Director-General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said four terrorists have been killed so far.
Attacks happens when over 3,000 students are reported to be inside premises, Express Tribune reports.
At the time of attack, an event regarding the death anniversary of Pashtun politician Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, known as Bacha Khan, was being attended by a large number of students inside the university.
The attack is reminiscent of the deadly Army Public School attack in Peshawar in 2014.
