Ghazanfar Mohammad Asl Roknabadi (21 March 1966 – 24 September 2015) was an Iranian diplomat, who served as Iranian ambassador to Lebanon from 2010 to 2014. He is confirmed to have martyred in the 2015 Mina disaster which killed thousands of people.
Roknabadi went missing during the deadly Hajj stampede in Mina near Mecca on September 24 where 465 Iranian pilgrims were killed due to mismanagement of Saudi officials.
Saudi Arabia declined his presence in Mecca, but Iranian media releases footage on 29 September, showing Roknabadi’s presence in Mina. The passport that shows his entrance into Saudi Arabia was also released by Iranian media.
Finally, after nearly sixty days of the Mina disaster, his identity was approved through “DNA” testing.
