Yesterday the state run Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said the death sentences of the Iranians accused of allegedly smuggling the drug, were carried out in the city of Dammam, the capital of the country’s Eastern Province, on Sunday.
"According to AFP tallies, their cases brought to 145 the number of locals and foreigners executed in the kingdom so far this year, compared with 87 in 2014. Saudi executions are usually carried out by beheading with a sword."
The sentences, issued following alleged trials at courts, had been endorsed by the kingdom’s Supreme Court as well as King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Rights experts have expressed concern about the fairness of trials in the Saudi Arabia.
The execution of the Iranians comes less than two weeks after Saudi prince Abdel Mohsen Bin Walid Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was arrested with two tonnes of amphetamines, packed in 40 suitcases, which were due to be loaded onto a private jet. The plane was to head to the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
"Captagon is the brand name for the amphetamine phenethylline, a synthetic stimulant. The banned drug is consumed mainly in the Middle East and has reportedly been widely used by Terrorist in Syria." - See more at: http://en.alalam.ir/news/1753222#sthash.orIsV33O.dpuf
