Ayatollah Khamenei received President Almazbek Atambayev of Kyrgyzstan here in Tehran on Saturday evening and called for improvement and expansion of bilateral relations among Muslim and fraternal countries; “base of foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is improvement of relations and strong, all-out ties among brotherly Muslim countries.”
Iran’s Leader described opposing oppressions by bullying powers a Divine and Islamic principle and referring to remarks by Kyrgyz president on closing of US Airbase Manas in the country, asserted that “offensive and hegemonic powers are constantly plotting against other nations, while Islam pursues dignity of Muslim nations; the only way to confront and get rid of problems and evil made by hegemonic powers is resistance and strengthened relations among Muslim countries.”
Ayatollah Khamenei also called for expansion of bilateral ties among the two countries in different areas which ‘needs willingness’ in both sides.
During the meeting where President Rouhani was also attending, Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev expressed pleasure over his visit to Tehran. “Iran and Kyrgyzstan are two brotherly nations and share religion, history and cultural commonalities and both seek freedom and independence,” said he.
Atambayev called for development of cooperation in transportation, road construction and railroads and urged expansion of bilateral ties.
Kyrgyz president also touched upon closing of US airbase and termination of cooperation contract with US and stated that “no country has the right to overlook other nations and impose sanctions against other countries.”
“The United States with 200 years of history wants to impose its will to a country like Iran with 5,000 years of civilization and history which is impossible,” he asserted.
He further praised Iranian nation for its resistance against the US and that “Iranians not only stood firm against sanctions, but also grew stronger and we consider the Islamic Republic a role model for our country;” MNA reported.
